Tonight, Dinner Is Not in a Restaurant. It's Home Cooking in Pisa

Spend the evening in a real Italian kitchen instead of another restaurant. We pick you up at 6.30pm, this is home cooking. You learn to make fresh pasta and then make your own, and you eat it at the family’s table. You get driven back at the end.

Most food experiences in Tuscany happen in a place built for visitors. This one happens in a house. The door opens, someone puts a glass in your hand, and the kitchen is already working.

Aperitivo first, home cooking, then your pasta, then dessert. Nobody comes to clear your plate so they can turn the table.

At the end the same van takes you back. That is the whole evening, and there is nothing in it for you to organise.

Wherever you are staying. Tell us the address when you ask for a date and we will confirm the pickup with your booking.

What It Costs

The price is per person and it drops as the group grows. One evening, one family, one kitchen: the cost of putting it on is the same whether there are two of you or six, so the more of you there are, the less each of you pays.

Your groupPer personTotal
2 guests160 euro320 euro
3 guests145 euro435 euro
4 guests125 euro500 euro
5 guests110 euro550 euro
6 guests100 euro600 euro

Six is the maximum. There is no separate child price: children count as guests and pay the same.

ONE HOUSE, ONE TABLE, SIX SEATS

This is a family home, not a venue with two sittings a night. There is one table, it stops at six people, and the date has to work for the family as well as for you.

Ask as soon as you know which night you are in Pisa. The sooner you ask, the more likely the answer is yes.

Why Choose This Home Cooking Experience in Pisa?

A Real Home, Not a Venue

You are a guest in a family house, at their table, eating off their plates. That is the difference between eating Italian food and eating in an Italian home.

We Collect You and Bring You Back

Pickup at 6.30pm from where you are staying, and a ride back at the end of the night. No rental car, no parking, no hunting for a taxi at 10.30pm.

You Watch, Then You Do It Yourself

They show you how it is done first, close up in a working kitchen. Then you make your own pasta with your own hands, and that is the plate that arrives in front of you at dinner.

A Full Dinner, Not a Tasting Plate

Aperitivo to start, the pasta you made, dessert to finish. You leave having actually had dinner, so the evening is done and there is nothing left to plan.

Never More Than Six People

It runs from two guests and stops at six. One table, one family, nobody else’s group to share the kitchen with.

The More of You, the Less Each Pays

The evening costs the same whether there are two of you or six, so the price per person comes down as the group grows. Two guests pay 160 euro each. Six pay 100 each. If you are travelling with friends or family, bring them.

Arranged Around Your Date

This evening is not on a fixed calendar. You tell us when you are in Pisa, we check with the family, and we build it around you.

Booked With Us, Hosted by the Family

Discovery Pisa takes care of the request, the confirmation and every question you have before the evening. The evening itself belongs to the hosts, which is the point.

Is This the Right Evening for You?

Choose this if you want to spend an evening in someone’s home, cook, eat properly, and let somebody else handle the driving.

What Your Home Cooking in Pisa Evening Looks Like

6.30pm: We Pick You Up

The van comes to where you are staying. No address to find, no map, no car.

You Arrive at the House

You are welcomed at the door with a drink and you meet the family. From here on it is their home and you are guests in it, which is a different feeling from walking into a class.

They Show You How It Is Done

Flour, eggs, a board and a rolling pin. You watch fresh pasta being made in front of you, close enough to see exactly what the hands are doing, while the aperitivo comes together alongside it.

Then You Make Your Own

Your turn. Your flour, your eggs, your board. It is messier than theirs and it tastes better for it.

Dinner

You sit down and eat what you made. Aperitivo, your pasta, then dessert. This is the long part of the evening and it is meant to be.

The Ride Back

The same van takes you back around 10.30pm.

What Our Guests Are Saying

  • “The tour was well organised and provided everything promised. The meeting location was easy to find and the staff was friendly and helpful. Would recommend. The guide was knowledgeable and personal”

  • “Thanks to DiscoveryPisa for accommodating my schedule and working around my other tour for the day. I had a wonderful 2 hour tour of the Piazza del Duomo in Pisa with Andrea. We began with the Baptistry. The acoustics were amazing. I was able to climb the stairs to the upper level. The next stop was the cathedral and then finally the cemetery. I was assured that much work had been done on the leaning tower to balance it and prevent it from falling in the past decades. As mentioned before, Andrea was incredibly knowledgeable, noting all of the important period styles included at different stages of construction.”

  • “We had a great guided tour. The meeting spot was accurately described and our tour guide was easy to find. Anastasia was great!! She had a lot of interesting facts and stories which really added to the experience. The tour was timely and we had time to take some photos prior to entering the leaning tower. I would recommend this tour as an interesting and great way to see the main sites of Miracle Square in Pisa!”

  • “Fabulous tour of Pisa and all of its treasures with a great informative and enthusiastic guide. Ticket included all entries to mayor attractions but the trip to the top of the Pisa of tower was the highlight.”

Frequent Asked Questions About the Home Cooking in Pisa

How much is it?

It depends on how many of you there are, because the evening costs the same either way. Two guests pay 160 euro each, three pay 145 each, four pay 125, five pay 110, and six pay 100 each. Six is the maximum, and children pay the same as adults.

Is this a cooking class or a dinner?

Both, and in that order. They show you how fresh pasta is made, then you make your own, then everyone sits down and eats it as a full dinner. You are a guest at the table, not a student at a workstation.

Do we actually cook, or do we just watch?

You cook. The evening starts with the hosts showing you how it is done, and then you make your own pasta with your own hands. What you make is what you eat.

Where does the evening take place?

In the hosts’ own home. It is a private house, so the exact address comes with your booking confirmation rather than being published here.

How do we get there and back?

We collect you at 6.30pm from where you are staying and drive you back at the end. The transfer both ways is included in the price. Tell us where you are staying when you ask for a date and we will confirm it.

What time does it finish?

Around 10.30pm.

What will we eat?

An aperitivo to start, the pasta you made that evening, and dessert.

Are drinks included?

Water is. Wine is not, but it can be arranged. Tell us when you ask for your date and we will sort it out with the hosts.

Can you handle allergies, vegetarians or vegans?

Tell us when you ask for the date and we will check with the hosts before we confirm. This is home cooking for one table, so it is worked out in advance, never on the night.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, and it usually works better than a restaurant does. Children take part like everyone else, and there is no separate child price.

How many people will be there?

Your group only, from two to six guests. There is one table.

What language is the evening in?

English or Italian. Tell us which you prefer when you ask for a date.

How do I book?

Send us the date you have in mind and how many of you there are. We check with the family and come back to you with a yes or a no, and with the price confirmed.

What if we need to cancel?

Cancel up to 72 hours before the evening for a full refund.

What should we wear?

Whatever you would wear to dinner at a friend’s house. There will be flour involved, so nothing you would be upset about.

What if I still have questions?

Write to info@discoverypisa.com or message us on WhatsApp at +39 351 542 5848. A person answers.
